Things to Review when Introducing EHR Software to Your Staff
In an earlier blog post, we discussed how to prepare your staff for the addition of EHR software.
This time around, we’re going to look at this from a different angle. We’re going to explore the many points to touch on as you first introduce this technology to your staff.
As you can imagine, some people will fall in love with the idea of doing away with a paper-system and focusing solely on the use of advanced technology.
Conversely, there may be a handful (or more) of people who don’t like this idea.
Here are three things you must do when introducing EHR software to your staff:
Talk Up the Benefits
You are well aware of the benefits, but this doesn’t mean that others have the same level of knowledge.
To be fair, you can’t expect your staff to get excited before they know what EHR software is all about. Once you educate them on the benefits, they may be singing a different tune.
The Implementation
This is where many people get off track. They tell their staff that EHR software is the wave of the future. They also tell them that the technology will be implemented in the near future.
What they don’t do, however, is explain how the implementation will work. You must make it clear that the technology is not replacing them, but will instead be used to make their job easier and to provide a higher level of care.
The Training
The word software has a way of scaring many people, especially those who have avoided technology in the past.
You should deal with this potential problem before it turns into something more serious. Tell your staff that there will be plenty of upfront training, as well as ongoing education to keep them up to speed.
When you introduce EHR software in the appropriate manner, it’s much easier to get your entire staff excited about what the future will bring.
